Development Events Intern

POSITION TITLE/DEPARTMENT Development Events Intern   

CLASSIFICATION/GRADE: Part-time, Non-Exempt, Temporary (12 weeks)

SALARY RANGE: 24 hours per week, $16.50 per hour  

 

GENERAL SUMMARY 

As an established and respected organization, the DIA is an excellent place for interns to explore interests in museums and non-profits. Beyond learning about the art collections, interns are able to contribute to everything that helps the museum run smoothly. Interns will work under the guidance and supervision of a DIA professional on a specific project with established learning outcomes.   

 

The Development Events Intern will gain an understanding of development and event management work at the DIA. The intern will assist the Events Officer with all aspects of events planning and execution, and work on the museum affinity program.   

 

Projects and Tasks Include:

  • Coordination of multiple project calendars.  
  • Track RSVPs.  
  • Work event registration.  
  • Liaison with event committees, other departments and vendors.  
  • Creation of electronic invitations and other communications. 
  • Create and execute email campaigns. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS Successful candidates must be studying at an undergraduate junior level or above in one of the following fields of study at an accredited university: Nonprofit management, project management or business.   

 

Candidates must possess strong communication skills, be able to organize complex projects, and the ability to create event marketing materials using simple design programs like Canva, InDesign or Paperless Post.  

 

Proficiency in the latest version of Office 365, including SharePoint, Word, Power Point, Outlook, and Excel is required.  

 

This internship is blended and will include on site and virtual work. 
  

DIA Internship experiences have the following preferences:   

  • Candidates from Wayne, Oakland, or Macomb Counties. 
  • Will be given to those who have not had an internship at the DIA.
